About Artist
Abrar Ul Haq – The King of Punjabi Pop and Social Voice of Pakistan
Abrar Ul Haq is one of the most recognized and respected names in the Pakistani music industry. With a career spanning over two decades, he is often referred to as the pioneer of Punjabi bhangra-pop in Pakistan. His ability to fuse traditional Punjabi culture with catchy contemporary beats has made him a household name both locally and in the Pakistani diaspora worldwide.
Born on July 21, 1968, in Faisalabad, Abrar grew up in Narowal before pursuing higher education at Government College Lahore and later at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He first worked as a teacher at Aitchison College, Lahore, before turning towards his true passion: music.
His debut album “Billo De Ghar”, released in 1995, was an explosive success. It sold over 16 million copies, a monumental feat for the time. Songs from the album like “Billo De Ghar”, “Rano”, and “Billo On G.T. Road” quickly became part of Pakistani pop culture. What set Abrar apart was his playful lyrics, vivid storytelling, and deep connection to Punjabi traditions.
Abrar followed up with hit albums such as “Majajani”, “Bay Ja Cycle Tay”, and “Nachan Main Auday Naal.” Each track reflected the everyday life of Pakistanis with a humorous and relatable touch, showcasing his strength as a lyricist and performer.
Beyond music, Abrar Ul Haq has also made his mark in the world of philanthropy and politics. He founded the Sahara for Life Trust, a charitable organization providing healthcare, education, and disaster relief across Pakistan. The Sughra Shafi Medical Complex in Narowal is one of the key institutions under his foundation.
His political journey began when he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), where he used his popularity and influence to support social reform initiatives. Despite his political affiliations, Abrar has maintained a non-divisive image, respected by fans across all social and political spectrums.
His impact on music, however, remains the cornerstone of his identity. Unlike many artists of his time, Abrar Ul Haq remained relevant by continuously releasing fresh music, adapting with modern trends, and collaborating with young artists. His recent performances on platforms like Coke Studio and national television shows have further cemented his status as a living legend.
With his vibrant stage performances, infectious charisma, and decades of chart-topping hits, Abrar Ul Haq is more than just a singer—he is a cultural icon. His music brings joy, nostalgia, and a connection to heritage that continues to inspire new generations.
Whether it’s a wedding, a party, or a national celebration, you’ll likely hear an Abrar Ul Haq track playing in the background, making him one of the most enduring figures in the history of Pakistani music.
