About Artist
RDB (Rhythm Dhol Bass) – Revolutionizing Punjabi Fusion Music
RDB, also known as Rhythm Dhol Bass, is a groundbreaking British-Indian music group that redefined the sound of modern Bhangra, Punjabi fusion, and Desi Hip-Hop. Established in Bradford, UK, RDB was created by three musically gifted brothers — Kuly, Surj, and Manj Ral — who shared a deep love for music and Punjabi culture. Their mission was to bring the vibrant energy of traditional Punjabi music to the global stage by mixing it with modern Western genres such as hip-hop, R&B, house, and electronic beats.
RDB became a household name among Desi music lovers with their dynamic live performances and viral tracks. Songs like Aaja Mahi, Sadi Gali, and Shera Di Kaum blended infectious Dhol rhythms with catchy hooks and hard-hitting bass lines. Their ability to balance cultural authenticity with international appeal set them apart in the evolving South Asian music scene.
Their music found its way into Bollywood blockbusters, especially with tracks like Singh is Kinng (with Snoop Dogg) and Rafta Rafta from Namastey London. These collaborations marked a new era where Punjabi music was no longer regional—it was global. The group also worked with artists like T-Pain, Ludacris, and Public Enemy, showcasing their versatility and reach.
In 2012, tragedy struck when the eldest brother and lead composer Kuly Ral passed away due to a brain tumor. The loss deeply impacted the group and eventually led to a split between the remaining members. Manj Ral went on to form his solo brand, Manj Musik, while Surj Ral retained the RDB name and continued to produce music.
Even after the split, RDB’s legacy has remained strong. Their pioneering sound has inspired a generation of Desi artists and producers who aim to blend Eastern and Western musical elements. Whether it’s wedding playlists, dancefloors, or film scores, RDB’s tracks remain timeless anthems.
RDB’s influence goes beyond music — they’ve helped bridge cultural gaps, promoting a sense of pride and identity among South Asian youth globally. By mixing ancestral sounds with urban flair, RDB created a unique musical formula that continues to shape the landscape of global Desi music.
With their iconic branding, unforgettable beats, and deep-rooted cultural pride, RDB holds a legendary status in the world of Punjabi and fusion music. They are not just a music group; they are a movement that redefined what it means to be Desi in the modern world.
